The Recorder
Remember this abomination?

Yes, my oldest daughter got her first musical instrument today. She’s pretty excited about it too… though I’m not sure why. I hated that thing with a passion. Probably not so much the instrument itself though, more like a reminder of the days of being laughed at in class. UHG.. the agony!!!
Meh, wasn’t my fault I guess. It was more like a testament to good ‘ol fashioned hard work, of which, I did not apply ANY. Fact is, when I got my ‘book’, someone had scribbled in little cheat marks to tell you which holes to cover to make the notes.
My first instinct was COOL! But when it came time to get in front of the class and use the TEACHERS book, everything went to hell.
Lesson learned.
I hope she does much better….

Happy Birthday – MARK!!!
An ode to the bro who was a pillar during some of the most trying days and coolest times of my life. Just a few highlights…
Remember when we used to skateboard like crazy bastards? Like the times when we’d play tag-on-skateboards on the tennis court – Skating on such a smooth surface allowed for some killer speed, with break-neck turns, and body damage. Was it you or me that wracked their nuts on the poles trying to go between the two nets? Probably both of us. Or how about that time I towed behind your car on my board… yeah, that was a brilliant idea. Everything was all good until I hit that total shit part of the street and took a dive. Lesson learned.
Remember when they actually had music on MTV? Stayin up late watchin headbangers ball followed by Eon Flux and the beginnings of Bevis and Butthead. To this day, I still remember being nearly passed out, while you and Terry were still flippin channels at like 3am. There was this infomercial on for that big fucking metal bowl made for cooking, and on the box was the product name in HUGE letters…. Wok. Out of no where and breaking complete silence, Terry yells – WWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKKKK. Fuck man… I think we laughed for an hour straight.
And how about last year, when you helped me and James out by throwing us some floor space while our broke asses rode Sturgis. Hands down… Epic vacation. Of course, already posted that here, so I don’t need to repeat myself.
And most importantly, I’ll never forget you coming up to see me about every other weekend while I was in school. At the time, it just seemed cool, but looking back, I think it really saved my sanity. You know… being ditched in po-dunk Mitchell not knowing anyone besides Nick… for god sakes, what the hell is wrong with that guy?!?!
Anyways, thanks for being there and I hope you have a Happy Birthday! And in case you’re not getting any, here’s some boobs for ya….

Yeah… right…
Whenever I get my paycheck, inside the envelope is usually some sort of letter pertaining to “Living Healthy” or “Safety Tips” or whatever positive propaganda you can think of.
In this weeks issue, there was a small section called “Women At Work”. Below the heading are ‘Concerns’ and ‘Solutions’. It starts out with…
Concern: Ergonomic Problems – Female workers account for more than half of all musculoskeletal disorders. In some industries, women are often faced with ergonomic challenges such as tools and work areas designed for men.
Solution: If you’re experiencing any discomfort, evaluate your work habits and working environment. Check with your supervisor to learn whether resources are available to make sure your desk, work area and tools are ergonomically correct.
Funny…. When I read the ‘solution’, I read it as…
Solution: Bitch and moan to your employer until you can convince them that you can only do half the work you were hired to do, but still require top dollar salary. If your keyboard is not ergonomically correct, then it’s obvious that you need an entirely new computer with a 27″ flat screen monitor, surround sound, voice command, and a matching massage chair. Oh… and a Blackberry… DEFINITELY need the Blackberry.

30 Years in 3 Minutes …
well, since Shawn hasn’t posted anything for over a month, i thought i would post something interesting =] it’s also known as ‘the biggest transfer of wealth in history’ we send these people, who hate us and what we stand for, $700 Billion per year. i know that the price of gasoline has gone down in the last week or so, but this is a great video:

The Church
Part of my marketing tactic for my business is going to be a search engine (in case you haven’t already noticed). Based on Google’s algorithm, I’m trying to make a family friendly search interface. This will help parents in the local area battle off virus’s from little Billy’s late night fap sessions.
I’ve figured out how to incorporate some of Google’s filters, and surprisingly it worked pretty damn good… almost too good. I keyed in “boobs”, and got denied. “Porn”… denied. XXX, Tits, Fucking…. all denied. But then I tried “Suck”, and it gave me this paid ad….

Total ‘surprise’ was followed by uncontrollable laughter.

Random Things
First off, the logo creation for the business is killing me. I’m hitting up some kind folks at a web development site that do these types of things all the time. For now tho, you can see what I have so far at the home page.
Other stuff -
Yesterday, I was driving to work and was slowly making my way up to a school bus, towing a golf cart of all things… on the interstate. My first thought was “That’s kind of odd. A School bus on the interstate THIS early in the morning?”
As I got closer, I noticed that the back of the bus read “Tennessee MLHS”. WTF?!!
Then, while passing the bus, is see written on the side with black spray paint – Hillbilly Hummer
Logged onto Napster, and bought the new Metallica album. It’s actually not to bad this time. It’s gone back to the roots, just slightly, but with that ‘new recording’ flare. Broken, Beat & Scarred is my favorite so far. One thing I thought was odd, was that none of the tracks have Copy Protection… so I’m pretty sure I can just upload these where ever the hell I want. hahahah
Just so you know – This album is absolutely NOTHING like that fagtastic St. Anger. It’s pretty hard. James’ has reached back to his more usual vocal style, though some of his newer style still comes through occassionally, which I don’t really like at all.
Update – All Nightmare Long kicks some ass too… ROCK!!
Other than that, everything’s been pretty good. I like the new job, they seem to love my work, the kids are doing good, getting the business going is exciting, and well… I’ve actually had a pretty good attitude lately.
.
.
.
Oh god…. that can only mean one thing – Something TERRIBLE is going to happen!
FUCK!!

Hooray!
I talked to the state today about my business app, answered a few simple questions, and that was it! License is in the mail!
Now… much work to be done. I’ve got the domain name registered, which means an ass load of time creating art and content, and since I don’t have any good art tools besides Photoshop 6 (old as all hell), I’m going to be struggling. I really wish I had this software. It kicks ass on multiple levels.. totally.
I think I have a font picked out for the logo.. neat, clean, simple. But I will need everyones help – From time to time, I’m going to post something about changes at the site, and I’ll need some feedback. I’ll take anything from ‘killer’ to ‘total crap’…. ESPECIALLY since I know some of you have very different monitors (Mark’s being the exception… bastard. We all hate you! hahah).
Such as James’ computer. He’s got a widescreen on his laptop, and it screws up the menu at the karaoke site (which needs to be redone anyways). My monitor is standard, so it looks like it should…. wish I would’ve known about that issue before hand.
All in all… things are looking up. Even if I don’t make any money, at least I can say I gave it a shot. And you know what… If it weren’t for all my past experiences in business, I really don’t think I would’ve been ready for my own business until now.
So here’s to the future…

Moving Forward
I think I’ve been kicking around the idea for far too long. It’s been a dream of mine to start my own business, and now I think I’m going to get off my keister and actually get the paperwork going. So.. I’ve decided to operate a computer repair business from home.
Why? Well… as usual, I’m starting to get people crawling out of the woodwork asking for computer help again. In fact, just the other day at the gas station, the gal behind the counter got on that subject (long story). So I figure, why send ‘em downtown when I can do the work myself, and make a little side money?
On top of that, I figure I might be able to make a little additional money with some of the skills I picked up at my last job… which I’ll go into much later. In the end, if I can average a lousy $100 a month, I’d be perfectly happy.
However, I face the hurdle that every entrepreneur faces… coming up with a business name. As you know, I’m a numbers kinda guy. ‘Literature’ is just not my thing. Someone once gave me some idea’s but they all revolved around CompuTech and similar variations… but these just kinda fall flat with me. They’ve been done to death. Though, I’ve been in this game practically since the beginning, so for all I know… people still fall for it.
I’m looking for the next level. Something lively, home-like, yet expresses technology. So, with my extremely limited vocabulary, I ran a few terms past a thesaurus. Here’s a list of words I’m considering, not actual names (‘cept for a couple). Juggle these terms in your noggin’s, and give me some feedback!
